Mount Vernon Fall Wine Festival 2026

Wine Tasting After Hours at George Washington's Estate

Every October, George Washington's Mount Vernon opens its grounds after dark for three evenings of Virginia wine tasting on the east lawn overlooking the Potomac. With 20 Virginia wineries pouring unlimited samples, live music, and rare evening access to the Mansion, it's one of the fall season's most atmospheric events in the DC area.

The Festival at a Glance

The Fall Wine Festival runs Friday, October 9 through Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 6 PM to 9 PM each night at George Washington's Mount Vernon (3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon, VA). Doors open at 6 PM sharp. The event is presented by the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association in partnership with the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association.

What to Expect

20 Virginia Wineries, Unlimited Samples

This year's lineup includes 20 Virginia wineries — among them Barboursville Vineyards, Chateau Morrisette, Ingleside Vineyards, Paradise Springs, and the Winery at Bull Run. Admission covers unlimited tastings, and every guest takes home a commemorative wine glass. Bring ID; it's required for wine service.

The Mansion After Hours

The standout feature is evening access to the Mansion itself — a rare chance to walk through Washington's home at night and see it from an entirely different perspective. You can also meet "General Washington" for photos and historical conversation.

Live Music on the Lawn

Bruce Ewan and the Solid Senders perform throughout each evening. Bring a blanket, claim a spot on the east lawn, and watch the sun set over the Potomac.
