Guide to DC's Biggest Craft Beer Festival : Snallygaster 2026

Snallygaster 2026 (Tickets, Lineup & Tips)

This Saturday, October 10, Pennsylvania Avenue transforms into a giant beer garden with the U.S. Capitol as its backdrop. Now in its 14th year, Snallygaster has become Washington DC's defining fall beer event. Here's everything you need to know.

1. What Is Snallygaster? — A Beer Festival Named After a Monster

The Snallygaster is a creature from Maryland folklore — half reptile, half bird. A monstrous name for a monstrous lineup, and it stuck. What began as a beer-nerd gathering is now one of DC's signature October events.

  • When: Saturday, October 10, 2026
  • Where: Pennsylvania Avenue NW, between 3rd and 7th Streets, downtown DC
  • Scale: 160+ breweries pouring 450+ beers, ciders, and more
  • Extras: local food trucks and live music across two stages
  • Format: flat-fee admission covers unlimited tastings, plus a commemorative tasting glass to take home

2. Tickets & Pricing (2026)

3. This Year's Highlights

  • 19 Virginia breweries pouring: local heavyweights including Aslin, Port City, Ocelot, Commonwealth Brewing, Crooked Run, Mieza Blendery, and Wheatland Spring
  • Five non-alcoholic beverage tents: NA beer, wine, and cocktails — non-drinkers are genuinely welcome here
  • A fundraiser at heart: proceeds make this the largest annual fundraiser for the Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture, supporting local food access and sustainable farming education
  • Getting there: parking is extremely limited — organizers strongly recommend Metro, taxi, or rideshare

4. Can't Wait Until Saturday? — Snally Sightings (Oct 7–9)

From Wednesday through Friday, ChurchKey, Shelter, and The Sovereign host Snally Sightings, free preview pours from headliners like Other Half, Cantillon, and Perennial. On Monday, October 12, ChurchKey closes out the week with a Trillium tap takeover.

5. Checklist: Making the Most of Snallygaster

  •  Check the official site for ticket availability first — sellout risk is real
  •  Take Metro (driving is close to hopeless)
  •  Eat before you drink — hit the food trucks early
  •  Note the NA tent locations if anyone in your group isn't drinking
  •  Leave room in your bag for the commemorative glass

The Takeaway

450 pours, a Capitol view, and a monster of a lineup — if you're in DC on the second Saturday of October, Snallygaster is the place to be. If you've got a ticket, this weekend starts with beer.
